The European BIM Summit online is already here. This Thursday, we will be holding the biggest international online congress about BIM. The event’s backbone is comprised of three round tables for debating and approving the three collaborative working documents that will be a point of reference in the AECO sector. After exploring IFC in the building process and Implementing the ISO 19650, we will be closing our review with Towards a single CDE for IPD. The round table will begin at 4 p.m. and it will be attended by the experts who drafted the document: Jennifer Macdonald, Cristina Niculescu and Manuel Bouzas. It will be moderated by Ignasi Pérez Arnal, CEO of BIM Academy and content director of the European BIM Summit.

Jennifer Macdonald is an expert in digital technologies, collaborative teamwork practices and innovation in the construction industry. She is a consultant in BIM, Smart Cities, digital engineering and emerging technologies in building at PCSG, based in the United Kingdom and Australia.

Cristina Niculescu is managing director of thinkproject Iberia, where she leads the implementation of collaboration between companies and digital technologies to help the engineering and building industries to complete their digital transformation.

Manuel Bouzas is an architect with extensive experience as project lead and in work management. He is a founding partner and director of EasyBIM, a consulting company that specialises in the evaluation and implementation of BIM methodology in the building industry.

A Common Data Environment for sharing objectives

One of the main problems in building projects is the existence of budget modifications and execution delays. This is because each stakeholder is only responsible for their specific part of the project. Communication and coordination between the parties breaks down because there is no co-responsibility.

With a Common Data Environment (CDE) for Integrated Project Delivery (IPD) we facilitate a collaborative and optimised environment that allows us to operate simply and simultaneously. This promotes cooperation and co-responsibility from the very beginning of the project.

The Towards a single CDE for IPD document sets out the steps involved in creating a collaborative platform in which all the projects stakeholders share costs and benefits, with the ultimate objective always visible.
