The president of the Col·legi d’Aparelladors de Barcelona (CAATEEB), Celestí Ventura, and the Roca Brand Communication Director, Xavier Torras, have signed an agreement to promote the 6th edition of the European BIM Summit, which will take place in the auditorium of the World Trade Center Barcelona on May 27th, 28th and 29th 2020. Roca, a company specialised in bathroom space products and one of the worldwide forerunners in the use of this methodology and in the digitalization of its products to include them in the BIM catalogue, it will be the main sponsor of the congress.
According to the president of CAATEEB, Celestí Ventura, “this year’s BIM Summit wants to turn around to the practice, more professional and less theoretical, that allows to tackle the cultural and way of working changes that this methodology represents”. For his part Xavier Torras, Brand Communication Director of Roca, highlighted the BIM ability to change: “we have always found in each edition something new that encourages us to move forward with our collaboration”.
The new edition of the European BIM Summit will have three main axes, based on the digitalization of the construction life cycle, such as Building Information Modelling (BIM), Lean Management (meaning, adjusted production management) and collaborative work methods such as the Integrated Project Delivery (IPD). The work done on these axes will be transferred to three documents that will be discussed within congressmen, with the aim of converting them into «position papers» that will be offered to the community of agents involved in the productive process of the architecture sector, engineering, construction and operation, so-called AECO sector.
The 2020 edition of the European BIM Summit will have as guest countries Netherlands and Singapore, and in particular Rijkswaterstaat that has “bimetized” the water canals Amsterdam city and The Building and Construction Authority (BCA), which it leads as the government agency of Singapore the development of excellence in construction. The congress is organised by CAATEEB, BIM Academy and Building Smart Spain.
